Driving SH7 from Culverden to Hurunui, in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand's South Island.
Culverden is a historical township located in the Amuri Basin of North Canterbury. The town was established in 1886 with the arrival of the railway, although little remains of the railway today. Nowadays, it offers a range of attractions and accommodations for visitors looking to experience rural New Zealand.
Culverden is only a short distance from the famous Hanmer Springs. It is also a short drive south to the historic Hurunui Hotel, which, since 1868, has provided travellers from Nelson to Christchurch with a place to rest, pick up their mail or catch up on the news.
