Driving SH7 from Waikari to Waipara, in the Canterbury region on the East Coast of New Zealand's South Island.
Waikari is a small town in the Hurunui District in northern Canterbury, about an hours drive from Christhchurch. The town is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and is the last stop on the Weka Pass Vintage Steam Railway - a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can also walk on the picturesque Village Walkway, which has stunning views of the Southern Alps, or take a side trip up a nearby hill to see Maori Rock Art.
Waipara is a stunning wine growing region in northern Canterbury, just north of Christchurch. Waipara Valley wineries are famous for their premium Pinot noir, Riesling and Chardonnay. The area doesn't just offer great wineries, but also other attractions like horse trekking, the scenic Weka Pass Railway, and a range of relaxing country lodges and accommodation.
